Video: How does RCC Work?

Take a look at how two people use RCC for a conference call:  Ava, who prefers to communicate via typing, and James, who prefers to speak for himself.

Option 1: If you prefer to communicate via typing:

  • 1

The captioner joins the teleconference bridge, then listens and transcribes the event (conference call or webinar).

  • 2

You read the captions on a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile device.

  • 3

To add your comments/ questions to the discussion, type in the “Message to Captioner” text box and send it.

  • 4

The captioner reads aloud your comments/questions at the earliest break in the discussion.  Your words appear on the real-time streaming display.

Option 2: If you prefer to speak for yourself:

  • 1

You join the teleconference bridge using a phone.  The captioner also joins the teleconference bridge, then listens and transcribes the event (conference call or webinar).

  • 2

You read the captions on a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile device.

  • 3

To add your comments/ questions, you speak directly to the other attendees via the teleconference bridge.  Your words appear on the real-time streaming display.
