Accurate reporting is critical and requires a mobile solution to properly gather, record and document damages for accurate assessment and crew deployment.

  • The Client needed to bring its Windows based Scout App to the Android and iOS platform along with adding several new enhancements
  • Identifying and clearing downed wires and other hazardous situations, along with an initial assessment of their damage, is a priority during severe weather and storms for gas and utility companies.
  • Extend the Scout damage assessment and reporting app to the Android and Apple smartphones and tablets to help gas and utility companies eliminate their reliance on paper maps, hand written notes, radio traffic and phone calls between field responders and the dispatch office to evaluate damage after a storm or power outage.
  • Help the field responders to assess affected area and accurately predict total damage and crews needed to clear hazardous areas and restore power back to customers in the fastest time possible.
  • Finished apps should be user friendly, quickly deployed, with minimal learning curve or training
  • Allow field crews to collect damage information with or without connectivity to the main office network.
  • The completed solution built for the Android, iPhone and iPad smartphones and tablets utilizes the native GPS feature on these devices to allow field crews to record their location and assess the severity of damages after severe weather or a major storm.
  • The field crews are also able to document the incident by attaching comments, photos, and color-coding the incident to indicate severity.
  • Information is transferred in real time from the field crew to the home office to help dispatchers prioritize hazards and direct the appropriate crew to the damage locations.
  • A map of the damages is created to assist managers and other office staff to view the scope of damages and their impact in real time.
